Bid-writing that helped win over £1 million in new business for a micro tech company
Marvell Consulting
Showcasing expertise with winning pitches
I joined Marvell Consulting as their lead content designer in 2019. At the time the company of 8 people had a a single government contract which was due to come to an end, the same contract that had kickstarted the business. Despite bidding repeatedly for new contracts, the team were struggling to even get shortlisted, let alone win.
I took responsibility for leading on the development of bids, coordinating team members to draft responses which I then refined, using evidence wherever I could to ‘show’ rather than just ‘tell’ the company’s experience. I tightly edited every response down to create short, sharp, authoritative statements that clearly responded to the question and reflected the company’s superb track record of delivery.
The company immediately started getting shortlisted and within two months had won a £300,000 contract to deliver a discovery and alpha for NHSX, the former transformation programme for the NHS. Following successful delivery of that project, we won further contracts with NHSX and this experience allowed us to secure contracts with other departments in the health space including the Department for Health and Social Care.
I exited the business in 2023, leaving a bank of responses and pitch decks that the team could repurpose and build on for future bids. The company has since gone from strength to strength, winning work with new clients and solidifying their reputation as an experienced provider of bespoke software services.
