Statistical reporting that's simpler, clearer, faster
I worked with a multidisciplinary team to redesign, test and validate The Bank’s statistical reporting pages to deliver a better user experience.

Recognition at the Central Banking Awards
The work I led was awarded the Initiative of the Year award at the Central Banking Awards, showcasing the power of small changes done well.

Prototyping the future of annual reporting
I also developed concepts for how the designs could evolve in the future to make reporting even easier and faster.
Banking information that’s fit for the modern era
In 2021 the Bank of England and the Financial Conduct Authority kicked off a programme to transform how data is collected from UK financial institutions.
The current information demands of both institutions place a heavy burden on banks, particularly start ups or smaller financial institutions. In addition, data collection is disjointed and confusing, resulting in large numbers of errors in statistical data which correspondingly undermines the quality of financial forecasting.
As the first user-centred content specialist recruited to the Bank of England in 2025, I was responsible for leading on the redesign of the bank’s statistical reporting information. With multiple returns and guidance running to over 112 PDF documents, there was substantial scope to dramatically streamline and simplify in this space.
Working with a user researcher and a visual designer, I first developed content for a new landing page, designing content to meet user needs identified in research. These included providing a clearer presentation of deadlines and adding the time and time zone, adding contact details for the statistical reporting team with SLAs for when users could expect a response, and adding a new content element for users to view statistical notices which were difficult to find on the existing site.
I also created a web-page template for each individual return with key information about that return, surfacing important information that was buried in PDF documents. I refined the content following multiple rounds of user testing and explored how in time we might format definitions and guidance as web-pages, allowing for cross-linkages to the spreadsheets where analysts compiled data.
Feedback on the new presentation was highly positive. A sample user quote was:
“This statistical reporting landing page is hugely clear. We would like this for everything.”
Following completion of the project, the Bank of England team continued the work, successfully creating web-pages for the full suite of returns, showcasing the commitment and support of the team to this project.
A page from the Bank of England’s website marked up with content changes following user testing
"Nadia was critical to us delivering our fantastic new reporting landing pages. She didn’t just deliver great content in a short period of time, she showed leadership too. She helped me think through strategy for how we should build and maintain our content capability in future.”

Recognition at the Central Banking Awards 2025
In March, the Bank of England won Initiative of the Year for this work at the prestigious Central Banking Awards. In the official press release, Angus Moir, Head of Data Transformation at the Bank of England, describes how the work has delivered a much better experience for banks without the high costs typically associated with transformation programmes. He said:
“If you work in innovation or change, I think it’s very easy for people to get caught up with the latest big things, whether that’s blockchain, artificial intelligence or the delivery of a big data platform. But sometimes the seemingly simple things, if done well, can also be incredibly transformative.”
